Thursday Night Throwdown at Hobby Bunker

Tonight's event was a 300 point 50% floor event which took place at Hobby Bunker in Malden, Ma. It was an average night with 4 players in attendance, all fighting for the prize, the Proteus limited edition figures. The players were:

Round 1

Hero_Guy vs Entropy

In this heady match the Xternals were vaulted to an early advantage when gambit led the charge with a direct hit on the Leader bunched together with his minions, Mach -1 and Dr Midnite. But the Leader was not to be defied and pounded Strong Guy to the ground, fighting his way to the end, until he was finally felled by the wily Cajun and his sun powered companion.

Paxzrake vs. Skull_One_Leader

Malice was afoot in this battle, and while the skrull infiltrator was weeded out as the traitor he was and beat on by his teammates, the scientists shot themselves in the foot, particularly Tony Stark as his hastily assembled Hulkbuster critically malfunctioned at a most inconvenient time, allowing this ragtag band of villains to gain the upperhand and win a victory for ignorance.

Round 2

Paxzrake vs. Entropy

This match looked to be a problem for both teams as the battlefield was not conducive to communication limiting the damage capabilities of both teams. Petrified of his size and electrical powers, the Xternals approached Zzzax first, and after cutting him down to size the rest of the team started to fall. Wily Zzzax phased over to the electrical circuitry of a nearby laser turret and starting taking pot shots at the Xternals. A few successful laser turret shots and some energy explosions and Sunspot was down for the count. Gambit and strong guy were able to succesfully maneuver into a position to neutralize both Zzzax and Merlyn with some Cajun charm for the win

Hero_Guy Vs. Skull_One_Leader

Once again the leader brought his minions to play but this time it was against a rival group of scientists. As they raced to be the first to discover the conditions of victory, the leader and his minions used some bad luck at the expense of Tony stark to seal the victory for the forced of evil.

Skull_one_leader Vs. Entropy

It was in this match that tony Starks Luck finally turned, first he tried to show some mistrust and failed as the Xternals faith in each other was true, but while the hulk was not there the equipment in the Hulkbuster suit turned out to be well suited to handling Strong Guy's toughness, while the living laser blasted sunspot to bits. finally gambit's cajun charms fell underneath the pure truth that is science

Hero_guy Vs. Paxzrake

After a superb battle of wits and positioning the Leader and his minions jumped out to an early lead in this one, nailing Zzzax early and ganging up on Merlyn. But as the game came down to the wire the leader consistently shirking off damage from the Red Hood and his laser turret left all of his compatriots KO'ed on the battlefield. In the end a badly beaten Leader finally vanquished the Red Hood, ending the threat that nearly cost him the victory.

--- and that is it. Hero_guy came ahead on points for vanquishing Paxzrake and his team while holding on to the leader, walking away with a fine Proteus and we move to next week looking for more tales from the battlefield.

A Little Tuesday night Mano y Mano at Pandies

Tonight's Event was a 300 point 50% floor at Pandemonium books and Games in Central Square. It was a light night, with only the Judge Skull_one_leader, ThrumbleFunk and Entropy in attendance. Since there were only two players going at it, the night was relaxed and the players went for a couple of Mano y Mano matches

In the evenings first Match tony stark put on his Hulkbuster armor and assembled a team of scientists to help him try and handle the ever present threat of the hulk. ThrumbleFunk's team was as follows:

As they set out on their mission to quell the threat of the hulk, it turns out this was in fact not just your average hulk, but a Hulk from the future with some of his cronies to help him show who rules this world. Entropy's team was as follows:

The war torn city street was littered with futuristic Devices, an Ariel baffler, a number of meteorites recently crashed landed from space, and a ladder the rescue squad had placed near an overturned truck before they were ushered out of the area. Tony and is team of scientists moved up to position himself for the impending fight, picking up the glowing meteorite along the way. Meanwhile Maestro grabbed the other space rock and took the high ground while his cronies followed behind. not willing to wait Maestro seized the moment, have Fabian use his power enhancing field to increase his strength and having the red tornado heave him next to the Hulkbuster with a tornado he took his enhanced shot and hit, nailing tony straight through his armor. There were a few retaliatory shots but Maestro shook them off and Won the day smashing all those in his way.

The second match of the evening pitted The High Evolutionary and two harpoon throwing mutant hunting robots he snatched during the evolutionary war, against the hulk's Warbound compatriots. ThrumbleFunk's included:

The Warbound of Entropy's team included:

The Warbound Faced an uphill battle in this fight, but they slugged it out valiantly on the battle scarred streets of new york. Korg moved up and grabbed a nearby crate to aid his compatriots by heaving it at the enemy, unfortunately when the chance presented itself he missed, learning his forte was hand to hand combat, not archery with a box. His brother took the opportunity to grab the space fallen meteorite in the hopes of slamming it into the high evolutionary. in the guise of all great masterminds the High Evolutionary through his robotic minions into battle first to soften up his opponents. While proving only marginally effective as the Warbound charged right up into their faces, the robotic Ahab's softened up the opponent enough so that after toying with them for a bit he rose the full height of his power and annihilated the over matched warbound.
